Job Description: Engineering Manager (Facility Management)

Position Overview:

The Engineering Manager in Facility Management is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the engineering department and ensuring the effective operation, maintenance, and optimization of all building systems within a facility or a portfolio of properties. The role involves strategic planning, team management, and collaboration with various stakeholders to achieve operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Engineering Operations:
    • Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of all engineering systems within the facility, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other critical infrastructure.
    • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure the reliability and efficiency of building systems.
  2. Team Leadership:
    • Lead and manage a team of engineers, technicians, and support staff.
    • Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to enhance the skills and performance of the engineering team.
  3. Project Management:
    • Plan and execute engineering projects, renovations, and upgrades.
    • Coordinate with external contractors, architects, and vendors to ensure successful project delivery.
  4. Budgeting and Financial Management:
    • Develop and manage budgets for the engineering department.
    • Monitor expenditures, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
  5. Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, building codes, and safety standards.
    • Stay informed about changes in regulations affecting engineering functions and implement necessary adjustments.
  6. Energy Management:
    • Implement energy-saving initiatives and sustainable practices.
    • Analyze energy consumption data and implement strategies to optimize energy efficiency.
  7. Emergency Response and Safety:
    • Develop and implement emergency response plans for engineering systems.
    • Ensure that safety protocols and procedures are in place and followed by the engineering team.
  8. Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency.
    • Stay abreast of industry trends and technological advancements to enhance facility operations.
  9. Collaboration with Other Departments:
    • Collaborate with other facility management departments, such as operations, maintenance, and safety, to ensure integrated and cohesive facility management services.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field).
  • Proven experience in engineering management within a facility management context.
  • Strong technical knowledge of building systems and infrastructure.
