Welding Engineer 

Qualification & experience:

  1. Shall be a post graduate qualification in Welding Engineering /Welding Technology

 

  1. Alternatively, PE Welding Engineering or Metallurgy with specialized training in welding technology.

 

  1. Additional certification required: IWE /EWE certification or American Welding Society Certified Welding Engineer (CWEng) in compliance with AWS B5.16 or the International Institute of Welding (IIW) International Welding Engineer (IWE) Diploma.

 

  1. Shall have at least 10 years relevant experience in the construction of onshore oil & gas or petrochemical industry facilities (pressure vessels, tanks, mechanical fabrication, pipelines, piping, etc.). Experience as a welding co ordinator in an ISO 3834-2 compliance organisation preferred

 

  1. Desirable with CSWIP 3.1 / AWS for welding inspection or equivalent and Certified to PCN II/ ASNT level II in VT, RT, PT, MT and UT techniques.

 

  1. Shall demonstrate sound technical knowledge and extensive experience in welding processes (SMAW, SAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, etc.), materials, welding and fabrication methods in onshore oil and gas industry. Expert knowledge in welding of high strength pipeline steels and improved corrosion resistant alloys (CRA) used in oil and gas industry.

 

  1. Shall demonstrate capability in preparation of WPS, selection of welding consumables; ability to undertake weldment failure analysis; welding related problems diagnosis and solutions; qualification of welding procedures.

 

  1. Shall have experience of working to and fully conversant with international codes (ANSI/ASME, ASTM, API, BS, EN, MSS, ISO, etc.) used in oil and gas industry.

 

  1. Knowledge of various construction/fabrication materials, welding defects and defects related to In-service equipments/ piping.

 

  1. Good knowledge of international Codes and Standards related to manufacturing, fabrication and welding of pipeline, piping & piping components, pressure vessels, package equipments, and storage tanks etc.

 

  1. Fair Knowledge on codes like TEMA, ASME, API, ASTM, ISO, AISI etc related welding & materials

 

  1. Understanding of the basic principles of corrosion, metallurgy and materials of construction.

Duties & Responsibilities (minimum)

 

  1. Prepare, review and approve proposed welding procedure specifications and procedure qualification records.

 

  1. Guide Corrosion and materials departments on the material selection with respect to welding as and when required.

 

  1. Advise and guide in developing and qualifying welding procedure specifications.

 

  1. Carry out welding problems diagnosis, failure analysis and find solutions to related problems.

 

  1. Conducts periodic training to Project team/ welding crew in accordance with pre-established programs and procedures.

 

  1. Assists in the development of automatic welding systems/ process/ methodologies suitable for construction environment inline with Client specifications
