Drill Rig & Heavy Equipment Technician/Artisan

      Reports To: Fleet Officer / Fleet Manager

Job Summary:

The Heavy Equipment Technician/Artisan is responsible for the repair, rebuild, fault diagnosis, rectification, and preventive maintenance of various heavy equipment, including screw type air compressors, Cummins engines, hydraulics, DTH drill rigs, excavators, backhoe loaders, wheel loaders, and auger rigs. The role requires a high level of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail to ensure the optimal performance and longevity of the equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough diagnostics and fault-finding for heavy equipment.
• Perform repair and rebuild tasks on a variety of heavy machinery and components.
• Execute preventive maintenance schedules and inspections to minimize downtime.
• Troubleshoot and rectify issues related to screw type air compressors, Cummins engines, hydraulics, and other equipment.
• Collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and inspections.
• Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while working on equipment.
• Provide technical support and guidance to junior technicians and apprentices.
• To work as a team leader with minimal supervision.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of heavy equipment mechanics, including air compressors, engines, hydraulics, and drilling rigs.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to diagnose and rectify faults efficiently.
• Mechanical Aptitude: Proficiency in using various tools and equipment for repairs and maintenance.
• Attention to Detail: Precise and meticulous in performing tasks to ensure high-quality workmanship.
• Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with team members and supervisors.
• Safety Consciousness: Strong adherence to safety protocols and regulations.
• Team Player: Collaborative mindset to work effectively within a team environment.
• Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair.

Education and Certifications:

• Education: ITI / NCVT Tradesman Certificate, Heavy Equipment Maintenance, or a related field.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications in heavy equipment maintenance and repair (e.g., OEM certifications, Cummins certifications, PRD Rigs).

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift heavy objects and work in physically demanding environments.
• Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and remote locations.

Additional Requirements:

• Flexibility to work on weekends and overtime when necessary.
