Coating Inspector Nace/Frosio Level 3 Roles and Responsibilities

1. The coating inspector shall have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar projects.

2. Expertise & Experience in FIELD JOINT COATING APPLICATION and repair of the following but not limited to:

• Heat Shrink Sleeve (HSSE)

• Liquid Epoxy • Polypropylene

• FBE

• TSA

• HDPUF application

• CWC

• Viscoelastic tapes

• Laboratory requirements

• Familiar with relevant ISO standards for FJC applications – i.e. ISO 21809-1:2011 and ISO 21809-2:2014) (amendments/supplements to ISO 21809-3:2008)

3. Highly experienced in surface preparation, cleanliness, environmental conditions, test instruments, coating mixtures, and safety concerns.

4. Capable of undertaking non-destructive and destructive inspections of liquid and non-liquid coatings applied to any substrate without supervision.

5. Skilled and possess technical knowledge and problem-solving abilities to address issues that arise on the job site and are capable of supervising Basic Coatings Inspectors and Certified Coatings Inspectors.

6. To review the client specifications and prepare the project surface preparation and painting procedure and inspection test plan.

7. To coordinate with clients and paint makers in terms of inspections and effective communication.

8. To conduct project quality walkthroughs and raise observations if not meet the project quality standards or quality of the work.

9. Inspect surfaces prior to coating to ensure proper preparation.

10. Monitor application of coating to confirm it is done according to the project specifications.

11. Perform tests to ensure coating has adhered properly.

12. Measure thickness of coatings in all stages.

13. Report any defects or inconsistencies in the coating process.

14. Ensure all safety and environmental regulations are adhered to during coating processes.

16. Provide technical advice to coating personnel.

17. To prepare all relevant inspection records and get signatures from all parties involved and to submit project final dossier to QSA.
