Job Description - Construction Manager – Pipelines (Wet Utilities)

Shall oversees the safe, timely, and budget-compliant construction of water networks, managing teams, schedules and quality control.

Key responsibilities include planning and coordinating all construction stages of the project, from initial design implementation to the final commissioning of infrastructure like pipelines, pumping stations, and reservoirs. This involves ensuring compliance with all local codes, regulations, and safety standards, as well as managing subcontractors and vendors to ensure materials and equipment are delivered to site and installed correctly. Can monitor and manage infrastructure for water, wastewater, stormwater, and irrigation systems

Key Responsibilities

Site Planning & Site Management:

Plan, organize, and manage pipeline construction projects from initiation to completion, overseeing permits, regulations, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation. Prepare and verify reports, drawings, and project documents (RFI’s, DPRs, WP & MP, Forecasts etc) for various phases of the project life cycle. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including other Draftsmen, Discipline Engineers, CMs, Project Manager, Project Director.

Site Supervision:

Supervise construction activities on-site, ensuring compliance with project plans, specifications, and quality standards. Monitor construction activities and maintain detailed records of all project phases. Review site delivery orders and verify associated documentation for accuracy. Supervise civil works for wet utilities to ensure adherence to approved specifications and industry standards. Has detailed experience of hydro-testing works and chamber installation works.

Team Leadership & Resource Allocation:

Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams of workers and subcontractors to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of tasks. Ensure teams have the necessary tools and equipment to complete the necessary tasks.

Safety & Compliance:

Ensure all construction work is performed safely, adhering to strict Company HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) standards as well as local regulations.

Quality Control:

Monitor project progress and ensure construction meets established quality standards and specifications.

Stakeholder Coordination:

Collaborate with engineering and design teams to ensure the implementation of design specifications and finalize infrastructure plans.

Vendor & Subcontractor Management:

Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors to ensure the timely and correct delivery and installation of materials and equipment. Highlight material requirements and constraints in advance to ensure availability as and when needed.

Risk & Problem Resolution:

Identify and address potential delays, emergencies, and other project-related problems, and respond to work delays with immediate corrective actions on the ground to mitigate and correct construction path.

Professional Skills:

Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team are crucial for this role.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Minimum) and experience with relevant software like MS Office, AutoCAD (Minimum). Familiarity with EPANET, GIS and CAD/ BIM software is also beneficial. (Optional).

Minimum experience of 15 years and at least 2 Projects (Potable Water)
