CONSTRUCTION MANAGER (HIGHWAYS / ROADS)

The Construction Manager reporting to the Project Manager, will be responsible for project implementation in accordance with project specifications and to the project schedule.   

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized University / Engineering College / Technology Institute.
• Experience in project implementation with a leading Construction Company on highway / road projects, at least 15 years’ experience in road construction projects.
• Proficient computer skills – MS Office.
• Familiar with road geometric designs and road construction materials specifications, and QA/QC requirements.
• Familiar with Conditions of Contract, FIDIC.
• Good English communication skills – oral and written.
• Possess leadership skills to manage multi-cultural staff.

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Implement the project in accordance with the Project schedule, Project specifications, and Project management plan.
• Liaise with Client representatives / Consultants for work approvals.
• Liaise with Subcontractors and Local Authorities.
• Construction scheduling, monitoring, and requisition for resources, materials, manpower and plant & equipment.
• Day-to-day management of the site, including supervising and allocation of resources (plant & equipment & manpower), QA/QC, and the works of subcontractors;
• Ensure implementation of work schedules.
• Monitor Plant & Equipment output.
• Monitor HSE program on site;
• Liaise with project Consultants and their representatives and attend regular project review meetings.
• Review of subcontractor applications for payment.
• Shop drawings submittal, review, and co-ordination with Design Consultants.
• Participation in and documentation of project coordination meetings.
