Job Summary:
The International Business Procurement Engineer – Spare Parts is responsible for the global sourcing, procurement, and supply chain coordination of spare parts for construction and heavy equipment. This role involves managing vendor relationships, ensuring timely delivery of quality parts, maintaining inventory levels, and supporting workshop and service operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of construction machinery, excellent negotiation skills, and experience navigating international trade procedures. A focus on cost efficiency, supplier performance, and operational alignment is essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement & Sourcing:
- Source and procure genuine spare parts for heavy and construction equipment from international and local suppliers.
- Ensure all purchased parts meet OEM/OES specifications and quality standards.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and delivery terms with suppliers to ensure cost-effective procurement.
- Analyze supplier markets and identify alternative sources as needed to support operational continuity.
Supplier & Vendor Management:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and manufacturers worldwide.
- Evaluate supplier performance on quality, pricing, delivery reliability, and compliance.
- Resolve supplier issues including delays, quality discrepancies, and shipping problems.
- Coordinate regular supplier audits and participate in trade events when required.
Inventory Coordination & Supply Chain Support:
- Coordinate with internal departments (Parts, Workshop, Aftersales) to forecast demand and plan procurement accordingly.
- Monitor stock levels and ensure critical parts availability to avoid service delays.
- Manage the end-to-end logistics process including shipping, customs clearance, and documentation.
- Ensure accurate part deliveries and maintain real-time updates within the inventory system.
Cost Management & Reporting:
- Track procurement expenditures and identify opportunities for cost reduction and process optimization.
- Prepare regular reports on procurement performance, cost analysis, lead times, and supplier metrics.
- Assist in budgeting and strategic planning for spare parts procurement.
Compliance & Documentation:
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with local and international trade regulations.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, contracts, and customs documentation.
- Adhere to company policies and ethical procurement standards.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in international procurement of spare parts for construction equipment or heavy machinery.
- Solid understanding of brands such as Liebherr, Caterpillar, Komatsu, Volvo, or similar.
- Strong background in dealing with OEMs, OES suppliers, and global logistics processes.
Skills:
- In-depth technical knowledge of construction machinery and spare parts.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills with cross-cultural awareness.
- Strong organizational and analytical abilities with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of Incoterms, customs regulations, and international shipping procedures.
Certifications:
- Relevant certifications in Procurement, Supply Chain, or International Trade (e.g., CIPS, CSCP) are an advantage.
Work Environment:
- Primarily office-based with frequent communication with international suppliers and logistics partners.
- May require occasional travel to supplier sites, trade shows, or field locations to assess operations or resolve issues.
- Must be adaptable to work across time zones and under tight delivery deadlines.
