Quantity Surveyor ( Roads & Highway)

QUANTITY SURVEYOR

The Quantity Surveyor reporting to the Project Manager will be responsible for all post-award works on construction projects related to quantity surveying, project payment certificates, progress reports, variation orders and contractual matters.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in Engineering / B.Sc. in Quantity Surveying from a recognized University / Engineering College / Technology Institute.
  • 10 to 12 years’ experience on Highway/Road projects with a Construction Company as a quantity surveyor.
  • Knowledge of job cost fundamentals.
  • Proficient computer skills – MS Office.
  • Proficient in use of AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of standard forms of measurement.
  • Conversant with Conditions of Contract and procedures; FIDIC.
  • Proficient in evaluation and submission of Contractual matters.
  • Experience in handling multiple activities and deliverables within critical time frames.
  • Ability to work accurately, effectively, and adaptable to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines.
  • Good English communication skills – oral and written.

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze contract documents, specifications, drawings and any addendums.
  • Maintain all contractual correspondence pertaining to the Project Contract.
  • Maintain all contractual correspondence pertaining to the Sub-Contracts.
  • Liaise with design and project team for quantities take-off, and identify potential variation items.
  • Prepare and submit Project monthly IPC valuations / certificates of work done on the scheduled date.
  • Prepare and update materials requirement schedule.
  • Prepare sub-contract enquiries / proposals, and assessment of sub-contract quotations.
  • Regularly visit Site and Liaise with project team for all data for valuations.
  • Analyze and timely submit variations, claims, change orders, design changes.
  • Prepare rate analysis / rate breakdown of variation items.
  • Prepare sub-contract monthly valuations of work done.
  • Provide data for daily and monthly progress reports and attend monthly progress meetings, and respond timely to matters arising.
